The office location, hours of operation, and contact information are typically included in the informational guide. Mail requests allow people who cannot visit in person to request certified copies of documents. The process typically involves submitting a written request with specific information about the record you seek, along with payment. The guide usually explains what information should be included in a mail request and where to send it. Processing times for mail requests are generally longer than in-person requests, sometimes taking several weeks depending on the volume of requests the clerk receives.
Phone inquiries can help determine whether a particular record exists or to get general information about the request process. The clerk's office telephone number and hours are provided in the guide. Staff may be able to answer questions about fees, processing times, and what information you need to provide, though they typically cannot complete full requests over the phone.
Fees for obtaining certified copies vary depending on the type of record requested.
